1. Attend a Monthly Educational Seminar Dr. Syn offers free monthly educational seminars to those who are interested in weight loss surgery. A list of dates can be found on our calendar.
- You will be introduced to Dr. Syn, the staff at the Advanced Baritric Surgery Center, and the bariatric coordinator from Covenant
- Many of Dr. Syn’s past patients attend the seminars to help answer your questions and share their success stories
- You will get questions answered on the insurance verification process
- You will understand the types the different types of weight loss procedures
2. Contact your insurance company It is important to understand the benefits and requirements of your insurance company when preparing for Bariatric Surgery. Contact the number on your insurance card to inquire about weight loss surgery. Working with insurance companies is an on-going process, but we can help guide you along the way. More information is given at our monthly educational seminars.
3. Schedule an appointment with Dr. Syn Contact the Advanced Bariatric Surgery Center for your initial consultation. In addition to this consultation, Dr. Syn may order one or more of the following tests and/or examinations, all of which can be done at Covenant Health System.
- Sleep Study
- Ultrasound of the gallbladder
- Pulmonary function test
4. Commit to long term success
- Discuss any questions or concerns you have with the Bariatric Coordinator or Dr. Syn’s staff
- Follow all pre-op and post-op instructions
- Commit to the nutrion instructions from the dietician
- Attend post operative support groups at Covenant and the Advanced Bariatric Surgery Center
